2022 Recap
CVR’s Purpose
Here at CVR we want you to gain a biblical vision for your family and head back into your home community to make an impact for Christ. You can transform the way you relate to one another by equipping yourselves in the principles and skills of family discipleship and biblical community. Seeing families catch God’s vision for their individual families is an inspiration!
2022 Update
The beginning of the year brought an extension to the time the missionaries onsite were staying with us. After providing a place of respite for the mission team, we got started with our regular ministry events. We had the opportunity to partner with a couple of church groups to provide family camps and marriage retreats.
From the extended family camp with lots of teenagers to the family camp with an impromptu talent show – complete with commercials, families connected with each other in relaxed, unique ways. We had an opportunity to partner with some new volunteers during this year’s events, and while we were all exhausted, we were so incredibly blessed to see the families grow closer to one another.
This year was a year to be thankful for the little things. One example was the ability to purchase a small ice maker instead of constantly dealing with bags of ice or trays. Also, Kim was able to attend a couple of organizational events as a vendor to share more about CVR and its mission (by the way, if you hear of sign-ups for community vendor events, please let us know to help us get the word out even more).
And, a year to be thankful for a few very big things! A couple of volunteers pulled out their big equipment to clear a new road to an equipment shed that was donated, which means we can consolidate all of the equipment into one secure place that is out of the way of our family guests. Our faithful volunteers – from Global Accord and more – built a side deck for all the outdoor cooking equipment, which will help us keep kiddos safe while they play on the back deck of the Lodge.
Barkley Fall Classic runners joined us again this year, and we hosted members of the PowWow drummers for their area event. Those are two local community events that we are happy to have space to provide for participants. Likewise, we had previously done limited rentals on vrbo (these rentals help pay for the free-to-the-family grief and ministry-leader retreats); however, we will be leaving the vrbo platform. We are not sure where we will land for the rental aspect of things, but if you guys are ever in need of renting the facility, please contact us directly.
Our Five Minute Family radio devotional-turned-podcast has now been heard in 44 countries, and we continue to share tidbits, challenges, and advice to families through this part of the ministry.
Please pray with us that we have even more church partnerships in 2023 and that we can continue to glorify God through this wonderful ministry to families!
